1967

Central Lechera Asturiana was founded as the result of the dramatic situation affecting the Asturian countryside when Jesús Saenz de Miera y Zapico created the Agrarian Colonization Syndicate, similar to a cooperative and which over 12,000 Asturian livestock farmers joined in order to open an Asturian mass milk producer.

1969

Construction of the Granda factory (Principality of Asturias), costing 168 million pesetas was completed.

1970

On 1 September, the first lorry arrived with 25,000 litres of milk.

1971

The Central Lechera Asturiana brand began to be marketed and the first non-returnable plastic bottle was launched on the Spanish market.

1972

The first feed factory, the forerunner of Asturiana de Servicios Agropecuarios (ASA), was set up to supply the cooperative’s livestock farmers.

1982

Central Lechera Asturiana adopted the legal status of an Agrarian Transformation Company (SAT) and started to provide agricultural services to its members.

1993

Relaunch of the Central Lechera Asturiana brand and start of the first communication campaigns featuring its farming partners.

1997

The Corporación Alimentaria Peñasanta, S.A (trading as CAPSA FOOD) was founded, after the merger with ATO and LARSA, with Central Lechera Asturiana SAT holding an 81.53% stake.

2006

Visit by the King and Queen of Spain to the Granda factory (Principality of Asturias).

2007

Jesús Saenz de Miera took over from Bertino Velasco as Chairman of Central Lechera Asturiana SAT.

2015

Purchase of the Savencia (Bongrain) Group stake in CAPSA FOOD by Central Lechera Asturiana SAT, giving it 81.53% of the equity.

2018

Visit of the King of Spain to the Granda facilities to mark the 50th anniversary of Central Lechera Asturiana SAT.

Livestock Guarantee Seal: it endorses the unique working method of the Central Lechera Asturiana SAT farmers, thanks to the services provided by the cooperative to guarantee their environmental, social and economic sustainability.

2020

Bertino Velasco took over from Alberto Alvarez as Chairman of Central Lechera Asturiana SAT.
